Camp Ewalu rests among the ridges, rock outcroppings, steep slopes and wooded river valleys of beautiful Northeast Iowa. Reservations are welcome from churches, schools, colleges, agencies, businesses and civic organizations.

Ewalu operates 2 sites near Strawberry Point, Iowa. The Ewalu Main Site has lodges, cabins and bunkhouses available for large or small retreat groups. The Main Site offers overnight lodging for up to 175 people. Also available is the Stone Retreat Center, a higher-comfort facility for adult and family groups offering overnight accommodations for groups of up to 50 people.

Open year-round, Ewalu hosts day and overnight groups. Churches, public schools, youth groups, family gatherings, conferences and retreats come every summer, fall, winter and spring to feel welcomed to this "special place in God's kingdom". Nearly 10,000 people visit annually. At Ewalu you experience custom programs, a full menu and several options for lodging:

Stone CenterStone Retreat Center: The retreat center has 16 private rooms for adults or families that all together sleep up to 50 people. Bedrooms have twin beds and private restroom and shower facilities. Your group can also enjoy the large dining area / lounge, stone fireplace (firewood provided), kitchen, and a piano. On the lower level, two rooms offer additional space with a conference table, ping pong and a pool table. Linen service is also provided. More Info

 

Ewalu Main Site:  The primary site is situated on over 500 acres of woodlands, prairies, and rock outcroppings in the beautiful Maquoketa River valley.  Lodges and cabins in the woods offer a peaceful setting - ideal for retreats, conferences and seminars. More Info
 

 

 

 

Cedar LodgeCedar Lodge is the largest facility at the camp's main site with eight rooms and bunk beds that sleep up to 75 people.  The building has a large dining room, two meeting rooms for breakout sessions, three fireplaces, common showers and bathrooms, and a large kitchen.  Cedar Lodge is located near Walnut and Cherry Cabins which can house an additional 100 people.  Ewalu's main site also has several other lodges available for small and large retreats.  Groups provide own bedding.

Food Service:  Meals are available to all groups at camp.  Groups of 20 or less may choose to do their own cooking if they are staying in one of the smaller lodges - Cherry, Walnut or Hickory Lodge.

Additional Services:   Special services for retreat groups include: cross-country skis, over ten miles of trails, snowshoes, canoes, swimming pool (seasonal), hayrides, a high ropes challenge course, volleyball court, campfires, Bible studies, games, and program assistance. The camp staff is available to any group for retreat planning and assistance.
