Ewalu
Camp and Retreat Center Camp Ewalu rests among the ridges, rock outcroppings, steep slopes and wooded river valleys of beautiful Northeast Iowa. Reservations are welcome from churches, schools, colleges, agencies, businesses and civic organizations. Ewalu operates 2 sites near Strawberry Point, Iowa. The Ewalu Main Site has lodges, cabins and bunkhouses available for large or small retreat groups. The Main Site offers overnight lodging for up to 175 people. Also available is the Stone Retreat Center, a higher-comfort facility for adult and family groups offering overnight accommodations for groups of up to 50 people. Open year-round, Ewalu hosts day and overnight groups. Churches, public schools, youth groups, family gatherings, conferences and retreats come every summer, fall, winter and spring to feel welcomed to this "special place in God's kingdom". Groups of 20 or less may choose to do their own cooking if they are staying in one of the smaller lodges - Cherry, Walnut or Hickory Lodge. Additional Services: Special services for retreat groups include: cross-country skis, over ten miles of trails, snowshoes, canoes, swimming pool (seasonal), hayrides, a high ropes challenge course, volleyball court, campfires, Bible studies, games, and program assistance.
