Camp Ewalu Main Site

Camp Ewalu:  Ewalu's main site is situated on 500 acres of woodlands and prairies surrounding the beautiful Maquoketa River valley west of Strawberry Point, Iowa.  Lodges and cabins are grouped together in the woods and offer a peaceful setting ideal for retreats, conferences and seminars of all sizes. 

Cedar Lodge: The lodge has eight rooms with bunk beds that sleep up to 75 people.  There is a large dining room and meeting rooms for breakout sessions.  The lodge also has three fireplaces, common showers and bathrooms, and a large kitchen.  Cedar lodge is located near Walnut and Cherry Cabins which can house an additional 100 people.  Groups provide own bedding.

Cherry CabinCherry Lodge: The lodge and two adjacent cabins are located on the ridge overlooking the Maquoketa River.  The lodge has a carpeted meeting room with a fireplace, kitchenette, restroom and shower facilities.   The two nearby cabins sleep a total of 40 people. Groups provide own bedding.
 

Walnut CabinWalnut Lodge: The lodge is located in the woods near Cedar Lodge.  It has a carpeted meeting room with a fireplace, kitchenette, restroom and shower facilities.  Three adjacent cabins sleep a total of 60 people. Groups provide own bedding.

Hickory Lodge: The lodge is located near Cedar Lodge in the camp's office building.  It has a carpeted meeting room, kitchenette, and two private rooms that sleep a total of eight people.  Each room contains a private bathroom and shower.  Linen service is provided.

Creation CenterCreation Center:  This building has breakout rooms useful for meetings or small group sessions.  It has a classroom, craft room, library, and several small meeting spaces.  The Creation Center is nearby Cedar Lodge.

Family Campground:  Campground sites are available for tents, trailers, or motor homes.  Electrical and non-electrical sites are available.

Food Service: Meals are available to all groups at camp. Groups of 20 or less may choose to do their own cooking if they are staying in Cherry, Walnut or Hickory Lodge.

Special Services: Special services available for retreat groups include:  cross-country skis, over ten miles of trails, snowshoes, canoes, pool, hayrides, ropes challenge course, volleyball court, campfires, Bible studies, games, and program assistance.  The camp staff is available to any group for retreat planning or assistance.
