Ewalu has comfortable lodging facilities and excellent food service available for school groups. The camp consists of 550 acres and is situated amid the beautiful ridges, rock outcroppings, woods, rivers and valleys of northeast Iowa. The Maquoketa River runs through the camp property. Ewalu's main lodge and nearby cabins sleep up to 200 people. All of the buildings are winterized and all have access to shower and restroom facilities. Camp Ewalu is located 3 miles west of Strawberry Point on Highway 3. Lodging Cherry Complex: contains a lodge with a meeting room, fireplace, kitchenette, and restroom/shower facilities. Also conatins two cabins (cherry 1 & cherry 2) which each sleep 20, for a total of 40 beds. These cabins do not have bathroom facilities. Bathrooms are found in cheery lodge. (Cherry is curently closed for remodeling.) Walnut Cabins (Walnut 1, Walnut 2, and Walnut 3): Each cabin is newly renovated and contains a bunk room that sleeps 10, a living room, and bathrooms. Barred Owl Lodge: A new lodge containing a living room, kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and 2 sleeping wings that each sleeps 12. Lodge sleeps 24 total. Hickory Lodge: carpeted meeting room, kitchenette, two private rooms sleep a total of 8 people, each room contains a private bathroom and shower, linen service available. Cedar Lodge: main dining room, large meeting room, 3 fireplaces, lower level sleeps 76, breakout rooms upstairs and downstairs. Cedar Lodge rooms have the following capacities.
